I Just Got The Citi Rewards+ Card-Here’s Why

Apply for the Citi Rewards+ Card Here

My Citi ThankYou card portfolio is quite expansive, as I got the ThankYou Premier card in 2018, have had the ThankYou Preferred card for quite some time, and also recently got the Citi Double Cash card once they changed the rules back in September 2019 to allow your cash back rewards to be converted to ThankYou points.

Honestly, I would seriously consider switching all of my non category spending to Citi as the 2% with the Double Cash on ALL spend is hard to beat, but Citi gave me such a small credit limit on the Double Cash card, that this is not a feasible option for me.  In addition, Citi does not allow reallocation of credit lines between cards like Chase and Amex do, so that Double Cash credit line will never be high enough to handle all of my other spend.

However, with some of my bonuses and with the ability to have Rob transfer his Citi ThankYou points to me (to use within 90 days), we have a nice accumulation of ThankYou points, enough that it will definitely make a dent in a travel expense some day.

I recently read an article about the Citi Rewards+ Card and was reminded of the 10% Points Back rebate feature for the first 100,000 ThankYou Points you redeem per year.  I thought to myself, I know I have a redemption coming up in the future, why not add a card where I will also get a rebate upon redemption.   So I applied and was approved (with another very small credit line).

I need to spend $1k in 3 months for a 15,000 point bonus.  There is no fee with the card, so I got this 15k points for free.  I will likely not use the card for much after that, but I think I will keep it in my current wallet for charges up to $5 (think cup of coffee), as charges get rounded up to the nearest 10 points on every purchase.  (Once I go over $5, my Citi Double Cash and my Amex Blue Business, both at a 2x rate, become more lucrative).

Citi, I cant make the most of your cards unless you let me reallocate my credit lines or give me some higher ones.  If you do, I may choose you over my other cards!
