Chase Freedom Flex is a Credit Card
With a credit card, you can carry a balance and accrue interest if necessary. Note this is not advised by me. The points game does not work well, if you are carrying a balance and accruing interest. See #4 in Let’s Get Started To Earning Free Travel.
Earn Cash Back (Or Ultimate Rewards Points)
Your Cash Back Rewards are tracked as points in the Chase Ultimate Rewards program. Your redemption options depend on whether you have other Chase Ultimate Rewards cards. Learn about the Chase Ultimate Rewards Program here.
Sign-up Bonus
Before you apply, make sure your ability to get the sign-up bonus is not limited by Chase restrictions on an additional sign-up bonus or the Chase 5/24 rule. Also be mindful of the unwritten 30 day application rule.
Annual Fee
No Additional Cardholder Fees
There are no additional cardholder fees.
Earn Points on Spending
1. Earn 5 points per dollar on up to $1,500 spent in bonus categories each quarter. (A maximum of 7,500 bonus Ultimate Rewards points). There are new categories every three months like gas stations, restaurants and Amazon.com. It’s free and easy to activate your bonus each quarter!
2. Earn 3% or 3 points on dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery services
3. Earn 3% or 3 points on drugstore purchases.
4. Earn 1% or points per dollar on all other purchases.
5. Also, you earn 5% cash back (5 points) on Lyft rides through March 2025.
Earn Extra Points
1. Shop Through Chase Ultimate Rewards-Earn extra points when you shop online at select merchants through Chase Ultimate Rewards.
DoorDash DashPass Membership
Add your card as the default payment method in DoorDash and gain access to a complimentary DashPass membership for the first three months, followed by a 50% discount price at the current rate for the next nine months. Note, you need to activate by December 31, 2021 your free year will start on your activation date so plan accordingly.
Using Your Chase Ultimate Rewards Points For Travel
Cash Back-Your points can be redeemed for cash back. When you use points to redeem for cash, each point is worth $0.01 (one cent), which means that 100 points equals $1 in redemption value.
Ultimate Rewards-Your points can be redeemed as Ultimate Rewards if you also have the Chase Ink Business Preferred card, Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve. You can read more about that here.
