With many Chase cards, the card is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of the credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months
Also specifically with the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Preferred cards, you cannot get the card or obviously get a sign-up bonus if 1. you have any other Sapphire credit card, or 2. you are a previous cardmember of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.
Similarly with the Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Premier Card and the Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Plus Card, you cannot get the card and the sign-up bonus if you are a either (i) a current Cardmembers of ANY Southwest Rapids Rewards Credit Card-so if you have one of the cards, you can’t get the other, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of ANY Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months-so if you got one of the cards in the last 24 months, you can’t get the other. Note, the rule only applies to personal cards and does not apply to the Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card.
With the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Card, you can’t get the sign-up bonus if you are a current cardmember of the Marriott Rewards Premier or Marriott Rewards Premier Plus credit card, or a previous cardmember of the Marriott Rewards Premier or Marriott Rewards Premier Plus credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 24 months.
Also, due to the Marriott/SPG merger, there is this additional language when you are applying for the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Card and the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business credit card The bonus won’t be available to you if you…
- are a current cardmember, or were a previous cardmember within the last 30 days, of the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card;
- are a current or previous cardmember of either the Starwood Preferred Guest Business or the Starwood Preferred Guest Luxury credit card, and received a new cardmember bonus or upgrade bonus in the last 24 months; or
- applied and were approved for the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card, Starwood Preferred Guest Business credit card, or Starwood Preferred Guest Luxury credit card within the last 90 days.
In addition to the above guidelines, there is also a 5/24 rule when it comes to Chase credit cards. The rule states that if you have gotten five new credit cards within the past 24-months, you will not be approved for a new credit card application.
