As many of you know, your American Express Platinum card has the benefit of receiving one Global Entry ($100) statement credit or one TSA Pre✓ ($85) statement credit every 4 years for an application fee charged to your card. That is great if you need to pay the application fee for yourself, but what if you need to pay it for the other members of your family?
Well, you could always get them additional Platinum cards. The fee for three additional Platinum cards is $175. Those additional Platinum cards also come with the $100 credit and also have other benefits such as lounge access, elite status, etc. So if you want your family members to have those additional benefits as well, this is the route you should take.
However, if your primary goal is to just not lay out $85-$100 per application fee, then just get your family members FREE additional Gold cards under your Platinum. These Gold Cards also come with the application fee credit, a benefit I have confirmed with Amex a number of times. This is a little secret that no one really knows about and something I often share with my clients. It is an easy way to save a few hundred dollars if you were going to be shelling out the $ for the application fees anyway!
