I have had this offer on my site for awhile and hadn’t given it much thought for myself until I got a targeted email from Citibank. The email offer was for the Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite MasterCard. The OFFER was to earn 60,000 American AAdvantage miles after you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months of account opening. The annual fee of $95 is waived the first year.
Before I even could think about it, I found myself filling out the application linked in the email. However, as is always the case, I was a little nervous about not being approved because I HAVE A LOT OF CARDS! . However, unlike some of my recent applications that came back as pending (ie-Chase Hyatt card), Citibank approved me immediately with a very generous credit line I may add! No reallocation of credit for me this time. Thanks Citibank. Not to mention with this new line of credit, my utilization ratio will decrease and therefore, my credit score should go up!
Recall some features of the card are you earn 2x miles on all American Airlines purchases and 1X miles on all other purchases. You earn 10% of your redeemed AAdvantage miles back – up to 10,000 AAdvantage miles each calendar year. There are no foreign transaction fees and you get your first bag checked free on eligible bags for you and up to 4 companions.
One may be thinking- how does someone like me not have this basic CItibank American Airlnes AAdvantage card already? Well guess what? I used to have it. I canceled it back in August 2015. With Citibank, you can get another bonus as long as you have not had a Citi AAdvantage card opened or closed in the past 24 months. I think I counted correctly. August of 2015 was more than 24 months ago. 🙂
Yup, 60,000 American Miles coming my way! These are to be added to the other 60,000 I got back in September of last year for getting the AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite MasterCard.
I forsee free American Airlines flights in my future!
