Citibank-You Are Ruining Some Of My Game Strategies

Just yesterday I posted about how I was going to cancel my Citi Hilton Honors card because it is being converted to an Amex at the beginning of the year and I want to be ripe for any sign-up bonuses that may come my way.  So, when I went to cancel, I followed my own advice and tried to get my credit line moved to another one of my Citibank cards, namely my Citi ThankYou Preferred Card.  However, unlike Chase and Amex, Citibank would not move my credit line from my Citi Hilton card to my Citi Preferred card. Don’t forget, it is good to have high credit limits, (and low debt) because this decreases your utilization ratio which helps your credit score.  Arghhh!

Luckily, the credit line on my Citi Hilton card was relatively small and I also just received a gift of a credit line increase from Chase on my Chase Sapphire Preferred card. (The increase is actually more than my Citi credit line).  So I am still ahead in terms of my credit lines over the last few weeks.   So overall, this is not such a big deal for me, it’s just annoying that Citi doesn’t follow Chase and Amex’s lead.
