Amex Limits Guest Access To Centurion Lounges Starting March 30, 2017

Unknown

Currently, as an Amex Platinum card holder and an Amex Business Platinum card holder, you can visit a Centurion Lounge with up to two guests or immediate family (spouse or domestic partner, and children under 18) at no additional charge.  I have taken advantage of this with my family whenever I was able to like in Seattle and Las Vegas.

However, the other day, Amex announced that it is changing this guest policy.  Beginning on March 30, 2017, the same day that the other Amex Platinum changes are going into effect, members will be limited to only two guest at no additional charge.  So for me, this would mean I could go in with just 2 members of my family and would need to purchase guest passes for the other 2 members at $50 a pop.

In my opinion, luckily I am not frequently in airports where my choice is a Centurion Lounge.  Even being from New York, we rarely fly in and out of Laguardia.  However, it seems to me that Amex is moving in the wrong direction.  I was not thrilled with the other changes taking place on March 30th and will be bummed when this guest policy change ever affects me.  Amex, what’s up?
