Card Highlights

American Express Business Platinum Card is a Charge Card

With a charge card, there are no interest charges because you pay your balance in full each month. If you become eligible, you may be given the option to extend payment over time on certain charges using Amex’s Pay Over Time feature(s). If you use these features, you may accrue interest on any charges you choose to pay over time. But remember, this is not advised by me. The points game does not work well, if you are carrying a balance and accruing interest. See #4 in Let’s Get Started To Earning Free Travel.

Sign-up Bonus

Before you apply, make sure your ability to get the sign-up bonus is not limited by American Express lifetime language or the 5 card rule or the 90 day rule or the other factors language.

$695 (but read about some of the credits below)

Additional Cardholder Fees

Additional Business Platinum cards are $350. You can also get your additional cardholders an additional Business Gold at $45 per year.

Earn Points on Spending

1. Earn 1x Membership Rewards point for every dollar you spend on most purchases.

2. Earn 1.5X Membership Rewards points on purchases at U.S. electronic goods retailers and software & cloud system providers on up to $2 million of these purchases per calendar year.

3. Earn 2x Membership Rewards points for each dollar of eligible purchases made when you book on the American Express Travel website.

4. Earn 1.5X Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on purchases of $5,000 or more, up to 1,000,000 additional points.

5. Earn 5x Membership Rewards points on airfare and prepaid hotels booked through American Express Travel (including Fine Hotels and Resorts) and paid for with your Business Platinum card.

No Foreign Transaction Fees

Pay no foreign transaction fees when you use your card on purchases made outside the United States.

$400 Dell Benefit

You get up to $200 in statement credits between January and June and up to $200 in statement credits between July and December for U.S. purchases with Dell on your Business Platinum Card when enrolled.

$200 Airline Fee Credit

Select a qualifying airline and then receive up to $200 per calendar year in statement credits when incidental fees, such as checked bags and airport lounge day-passes, are charged by the airline to your Platinum Card Account.

Fee Credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre√

Receive one Global Entry ($100) statement credit or one TSA Pre√ ($85) statement credit every 4 and 4.5 years respectively years for an application fee charged to your Platinum Card.

$189 CLEAR Credit

You get up to $189 in statement credits per year after you pay for CLEAR with your Platinum Card. This is enough to cover the cost of a CLEAR membership.

Airport Lounge Access and Priority Pass Select

The Platinum Card comes with complimentary airport lounge access to The Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Clubs, and Airspace Lounges and you can enroll in Priority Pass Select at no additional cost. These programs provide you access to numerous domestic and international airport lounges. Note, you need to enroll in Priority Pass Select within your Amex online account.

35% Travel Bonus

Get 35% Membership Rewards points back when you use the Pay with Points feature through American Express Travel for either a First or Business class flight on any airline, OR for flights with your selected qualifying airline (35% Airline Bonus), up to 1,000,000 bonus points per calendar year.

Note, for First or Business class flights on a Card Member’s selected qualifying airline, the Card Member will still receive only 3.5 extra points back for every 10 points redeemed.

The selected airline will be “the qualifying airline” with respect to this new benefit and the $200 Airline Fee Credit.

$360 Indeed Credit

You need to ENROLL to get up to $360 in statement credits per year for purchases with Indeed. It is credited back as $90 per quarter.

$150 Adobe Credit

Get up to $150 in statement credits per year for purchases with Adobe on annual prepaid plans for eligible Creative Cloud for teams and Acrobat Pro DC with e-sign.

$120 Wireless Statement Credits

You get $120 in statement credits per year for wireless telephone service purchases made directly with a wireless provider in the U.S. It is credited back at $10 back per month.

Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance

If you purchase a round trip ticket entirely with your Amex Card, you may be able to take advantage of the Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance benefit. Read more here.

Trip Cancel Guard

Provides up to 75% reimbursement if you cancel your eligible nonrefundable flight at least two full calendar days before. Read more here.

International Airline Program

The International Airline Program is a benefit where you can get savings when you purchase a qualifying Business Class, First Class or PREMIUM ECONOMY ticket for international air travel with your card on participating airlines.

Marriott Gold

As a Platinum Card Member, you can upgrade to Marriott Gold Status without meeting any stay requirements. Note, you must request enrollment for this benefit with American Express.

Hilton Honors Gold Status

As a Platinum Card Member you are eligible to enroll in complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status. Note, you must request enrollment for this benefit with American Express.

Premium Car Rental Status

You receive status in Avis Preferred, Hertz Gold Plus Rewards, and National Car Rental Emerald Club. Once enrolled in a program, you are eligible for upgrades when available, discounts, and priority service.

$100 Credit If You Stay At A Property That Is Part Of The Hotel Collection

If you stay a minimum of two nights at a Hotel Collection resort, you can receive a room upgrade, if available and a $100 hotel credit on qualifying dining, spa, or resort activities booked thru Amex.

Departures Magazine

DEPARTURES magazine is published seven times a year for Business Platinum Card Members. DEPARTURES focuses on travel, style, culture, shopping, and dining.

Purchase Protection

Purchase Protection protects eligible purchases made with the Platinum Card in the event they are accidentally damaged, stolen, or lost for up to 90 days from the date of purchase.

Extended Warranty

When you use your card for eligible purchases, you can get up to one extra year added to the original manufacturer’s warranty. Applies to warranties of 5 years or less. Some exclusions apply.

Return Protection

If you try to return an eligible item within 90 days from the date of purchase and the merchant won’t take it back, American Express may refund the full purchase price (excluding shipping and handling), up to $300 per item, up to a maximum of $1,000 per calendar year per Card account, if you purchased it entirely with your eligible American Express Card.
