Waaaah!!! Negative Change To The Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card

One feature of the Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card that I have always loved and taken advantage of is the annual free night award certificate that I was able to use at any IHG property.  I have used the night in Boston last year, and also in Boston the year prior.  Both times, we stayed at the Intercontinental Boston which was an amazing use of the free night award.

Just recently, Chase announced and sent notice to it’s IHG cardmembers that the free night award (issued after May 1, 2018) will now only be redeemable at properties up to 40,000 IHG Rewards points.  Bye Bye to those free nights at Intercontinental in Boston.  That hotel requires 60,000 points per night.

What is even more annoying to me is that Rob just got this card and when he applied last fall, the terms stated that the free night was for ANY IHG property.  I have emailed Chase with respect to this and await a reply, although I am not hopeful.

Honestly, I realize the fee is only $49, but I loved paying that for my free night.  The only reason I may keep it is because next year we will start to embark on college visits and I am sure I can figure out a way to still use this night.  But after that, I am not so sure….we’ll see…

C’mon Chase-What’s up??? 🙁
