Rob Downgraded His Barclaycard Arrival Card To The Secret No Fee Option

Jessie and Mason on our FREE Rail Europe tickets that we obtained using our Arrival Miles

Just under a year ago, Rob got the Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard with a nice 50,000 Arrival Mile bonus.  We used these miles to pay for our train tickets between Amsterdam and Paris this past December and saved $580 using his miles.

Fast forward, the $89 fee on the card is due this April.  Rob has not touched the card since charging the train tickets and he (me!) has no plans currently to use this card for any of his other purchases.

I called Barclaycard and we were able to downgrade his card to a no fee Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard.  This card used to be available to the public, but now is only offered as a downgrade.  Don’t forget, downgrading is a good alternative to canceling a card and I have done it often.

We also got a cherry on top.  If Rob uses his new downgraded card to make just one purchase in any amount,  he will get 1000 miles (so about $10).  Sweet!
