Below, I outline the main ways in which to earn and accumulate Air France KLM Flying Blue Miles.

1. Fly Air France KLM or Partner

Air France and KLM-You can earn Miles by taking a flights on Air France, KLM or any of their other airline partners.

The miles you earn per €1 spent, depends on what level member you are within the Air France KLM program.   Explorer members earn 4 miles per €1 spent,  Silver members 6 miles per €1, Gold members 7 miles per €1 and Platinum 8 miles per €1.

You can also earn Miles when you spend on extra options such as upgraded seating, an extra baggage allowance, or “A la Carte” dining at the same earning levels.

For those of us buying tickets or any extras in a currency other than €, the airline converts the amount at the time of purchase to €. This € amount will be used to calculate the Miles you earn.

Partner Airlines-Earning Miles on all other Flying Blue and SkyTeam partner-marketed flights is based on distance, the booking class earning percentage, and the Elite bonus earning percentage, if applicable. You can learn more about that here.

2. Use your Bank Of America Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard

When you use your Bank Of America Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard you earn 3x bonus Air France KLM miles for each $1 spent on Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and SkyTeam member airlines purchases.  You can also earn 1.5x per $1 on all other purchases.

3. Transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards

If you are a member of  American Express Membership Rewards you can transfer your Membership Rewards points, in 1,000-point increments, to your Air France KLM Flying Blue account. At the time of this post, your points transfer at 1:1 value. That means one Membership Rewards point equals one Flying Blue mile.  Note, you may transfer a maximum of 999,000 points to a single Flying Blue account on any given day.

If you are a member of Chase Ultimate Rewards you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to your Air France KLM Flying Blue account. Your points transfer at 1:1 value. That means one Ultimate Rewards point equals one Flying Blue mile.

7. Transfer Marriott Bonvoy Points to your Flying Blue account

Marriott Bonvoy members can transfer 3 Marriott Bonvoy points to receive 1 Flying Blue miles. Whenever you transfer 60,000 points, you get a 15,000 point bonus. So if you have 60,000 points, you can yield 25,000 miles…60,000 becomes 20,000 miles and the extra 15,000 that you get becomes 5,000 airline miles.   Transfer your points here to your Flying Blue account.
