Below, I outline the main ways in which to earn and accumulate Marriott Bonvoy points.
1. Visit a Resort and Spend $
Members of the Bonvoy program earn Bonvoy Points for money spent at Marriott Bonvoy Resorts. You earn ten (10) base Points per $1 spent at most properties. At Element, Residence Inn, and TownePlace Suites properties, you earn five (5) base Points for each dollar spent.
Qualifying charges that earn points are generally rates for stays, resort food and beverage, spa, phone charges and in room games and movies, etc. You can earn these points on your room and on up to 2 additional guest rooms. You can earn the points on the incidental charges even if you stay at the resort on points.
Bonvoy Elite members earn a bonus points on base points. Silver Elite members earn a 10% point bonus, Gold Elite members earn a 25% point bonus, Platinum Elite members earn a 50% bonus and Titanium Elite members and Ambassador Elite members earn a 75% point bonus.
Note, members will not earn points on non-qualifying stays (these are usually stays booked through an online travel agency like Expedia, or booked with points through your credit card’s travel portal.)
2. Use one of your Marriott Bonvoy credit cards
Chase Cards
With the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card you earn 6 points for every $1 spent at all Marriott Bonvoy properties and 2 points for every $1 on all other purchases.
With the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Business Card you earn 3 points for every $1 spent at all Marriott Bonvoy properties and 1 point for every $1 on all other purchases.
You can also keep earning with some cards that are not or are no longer available to new cardmembers but people still have them. For example,
With the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Premier Card you earn 5 points for each $1 spent on Marriott Bonvoy Resorts. You earn 2 points per $1 spent at per $1 at restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, and at car rental agencies and 1 Point for every dollar you spend on all your other purchases. With the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business Credit Card you earn 6 points for each $1 spent on Marriott Bonvoy Resorts. You earn 4 points per $1 spent at per $1 at restaurants, at gas stations, on wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers and on U.S. purchases for shipping and 2 Points for every dollar you spend on all your other purchases. With the Chase Ritz-Carlton Rewards Visa Infinite Credit Card you earn 6 points per $1 at Marriott Bonvoy Resorts. You earn 3 points per $1 spent on airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, and at car rental agencies and restaurants and 2 points per $1 spent on all other purchases. Amex Cards
With the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card, Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card, Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card, you earn 6 points per $1 spent at Marriott Bonvoy resorts.
In addition, with the regular card, you also earn 2 points per $1 on all other purchases.
With the Business card, you earn 4 Points per $1 at U.S. restaurants, at U.S. gas stations, on wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers and on U.S. purchases for shipping and 2 Points for every dollar you spend on all your other purchases.
With the Brilliant card, you earn 3 Points per $1 spent at U.S. restaurants and on flights booked directly with airlines and 2 Points for every dollar you spend on all your other purchases.
3. Transfer points from you Chase Ultimate Rewards account
If you are a Chase Ultimate Rewards member you can transfer you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards points, in 1,000-point increments, to your Marriott Bonvoy account. Your points always transfer at 1:1 value. That means one point equals one Marriott Bonvoy Point.
4. Transfer points from your American Express Membership Rewards account
If you are an American Express Membership Rewards member you can transfer your Membership Rewards points, in 1,000-point increments, to Marriott Bonvoy account. Your points transfer at 1:1 value. That means one American Express Membership Rewards points equals one Marriott Bonvoy Point.
5. Shop through the Marriott Rewards Mall online site
Shopping portals are a great place to rack up extra miles, you earn miles while you shop.
6. Earn Points By Dining
When you enroll in the Eat Around Town membership, you can earn points by dining out and ordering in.
7. Earn Points With Uber And Uber Eats
