Rob actually got an offer in the good old fashioned mail that I think I will have him take advantage of. The offer is that if he uses his Chase British Airways Visa Signature Card to spend $7,500 between November 1, 2015 and January 31, 2016, he will earn 7,500 bonus Avios. Don’t forget, with the card, you earn 1 Avios for every $1 spent on purchases. So in the end, Rob would have 15,000 Avios if he takes advantage of the offer. I will likely take advantage of this offer but will wait till January 1 to do so. Reason being, if I am going to use this card for $7,500 of our purchases that I would normally use another more valuable (to me) card, I may as well get something else.
That something else being…….next year, I will go for the 30,000 in purchases so that Rob will earn a Travel Together ticket. Recall that with the Chase British Airways Visa Signature Card, every calendar year you make $30,000 in purchases, you will earn a Travel Together Ticket, good for two years, that can be used when you redeem Avios for a flight on British Airways. You basically redeem Avios for one ticket and you get another ticket for free. If I use the card to make the $7,500 in purchases from January 1-January 31, I still have 11 months to figure out the remaining $22,500 in spend.
Recall, I took advantage of the Travel Together ticket for my family for free business class flights on British Airways to London. My sights are ultimately set on a trip to London for Wimbledon for my 50th birthday in 2018. If I get the Travel Together ticket, that would definitely add incentive to really book that trip….we’ll see.
