Recall that American Airlines AAdvantage has Million Miler Status and you earn it when you hit 1,000,000 miles. Specifically, to earn miles that qualify towards Million Miler Status, you need to fly. The miles you earn are based on the distance of your flight for travel on American marketed flights or the base miles earned for travel on eligible partner marketed flights.
Then came Covid-19 and American Airlines realized that those headed to Million Miler status likely wouldn’t get it for lack of travel and flying. So they offered their cardholders another way….through credit card spend.
From May 1 – December 31, 2020 every $1 spent on purchases with certain AAdvantage credit cards equals 1 mile toward Million Miler status.
These credit cards include:
All Citi / AAdvantage cards
AAdvantage Aviator Silver
AAdvantage Aviator Red
AAdvantage Aviator Blue
AAdvantage Aviator Business
Note if you have an AAdvantage Aviator White, every $2 spent on purchases that post to your AAdvantage account between May 1 – December 31, 2020, will count as 1 mile toward Million Miler status.
