If You Shop At Costco With Your Amex, Your Going To Need To Use A New Card

For 16 years, Costco warehouses in the United States have accepted only American Express cards. But yesterday, American Express announced that its cards won’t be accepted at Costco anymore, because the two companies couldn’t agree to the terms of a new deal.  The agreement between AmEx and Costco is set to end on March 31, 2016.

Last year, Costco decided to drop AmEx in Canada.  Capital One Financial Corp and MasterCard Inc replaced AmEx as Costco’s card partner in Canada.  This has raised speculation that the companies could also replace AmEx in the United States.

Let’s see what happens.  In the mean time,  I would look into a membership at Sam’s and BJs. 🙂
