There is nothing in the Mileage Plan terms regarding what happens to a member’s miles upon death. I called the program, and not only were they very nice in answering my question, but the program also has a very liberal policy regarding the transfer of miles upon death. You need to mail, fax, or email a copy of the death certificate and direct which Mileage Plan member you would like the miles to go to. The representative even indicated that it is possible to transfer the miles to more than one member. The whole process, they said, should take about 10 days.
