Good News From World Of Hyatt

Having just stayed at the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht and loving the hotel, the rooms and the location, I am going to start giving Hyatt some more play when researching destinations and searching for award nights for my family.  In fact, Hyatt just made 2 positive changes to its World Of Hyatt elite status benefits.  I received an email from World Of Hyatt detailing the changes that are starting on January 1, 2018…

First, all nights on free night awards will count toward tier status.  Previously, only paid nights counted towards elite status.  Hyatt is late to join this game, as other hotel loyalty programs (like SPG and Marriott) since 2015 has allowed free night redemptions to count towards elite status.

Second, in the World Of Hyatt program, you can earn free night awards based on qualifying nights or base points as follows:

-Free night in a Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort when you stay 30 qualifying nights or earn 50,000 Base Points in a calendar year

-Free night in a Category 1-7 Hyatt hotel or resort when you stay 60 qualifying nights or earn 100,000 Base Points in a calendar year

In the past, you needed to use the above free night awards within 120 days of issuance.  World Of Hyatt is extending the validity dates. Starting with awards issued January 1, 2018, you can use them up to 180 days from issuance.

Although at this time, I do not stay in Hyatt Resorts enough to likely earn elite status, I may in the future once my kids leave the nest, 3.5 years and counting!  At that point, maybe I can work on my status in many of the loyalty programs.
