Card Highlights

The Apple Card is a Credit Card

With a credit card, you can carry a balance and accrue interest if necessary.  Note this is not advised by me. The points game does not work well, if you are carrying a balance and accruing interest.  See #4 in Let’s Get Started To Earning Free Travel.

The Apple Card Is A Mastercard

Mastercard is the global payment network of the Apple Card.

The Apple Card Is Really Two Cards

One card is a laser-etched titanium card that lives in your physical wallet.  The other card is a virtual Apple Card that lives on your iPhone, in the Wallet app.

Annual Fee

No Annual Fee!

No Additional Cardholder Fees

There are no additional cardholder fees.

No Foreign Transaction Fees

Pay no foreign transaction fees when you use your card on purchases made outside the United States.

Earn Daily Cash As You Spend

1. Earn 3% Daily Cash on Apple purchases.

2. Earn 3% Daily Cash when you use your card with Apple Pay at select partners.

3. Earn 2% Daily Cash every time you buy ANYTHING using your card with Apple Pay.

4. Earn 1% Daily Cash at vendors that don’t take Apple Pay.

What Is The Difference Between The Apple Card’s Daily Cash And Some Other Cash Back Cards?

You get a percentage of your purchases back EVERY DAY, unlike some other cash back cards where you earn your cash back when your monthly statement closes.  Note, you can only use the Daily Cash as “cash” if you have an Apple Cash card issued by Green Dot Bank. If you do not have an Apple Cash account, Daily Cash can be applied by you as a credit on your statement balance.  Most of you probably have one in your wallet like I did.  I never knew what this was for, but I have always had it in my digital wallet.

The Apple Card Has Protective Security Features

It has the same security features as Apple Pay — Face ID, Touch ID and unique transaction codes.  In addition, the physical card has no numbers, instead the card number is locked away in a secure place in your iphone. Lastly, you get instant notification every time you buy something.

It Has Other Cool Features Too

1.   If you see a charge that you don’t recognize, you can tap on it and you can see on a map where the charge was made.

2.  Every purchase you make is categorized by type and is displayed by category color.  The same colors are displayed in your periodic (ie-weekly, monthly, etc.) spending summaries.

3. For online vendors that do not accept Apple Pay, there is a virtual card number in the Wallet app that autofills for you when you’re using Safari.

4. Wow, there are no late fees if you miss a payment.

5. If you unfortunately find yourself not being able to pay your balance in full (remember, not advised), Apple Card estimates the interest you’ll wind up paying, based on the payment amount you choose. This is in contrast to most credit card statements that emphasize your minimum amount due.

6. You can text for support and you get a text back right away.

7. You payment is due on the last day of the month despite the day you opened the account and you get automatic payment reminders.

An Interesting Goldman Sachs Fact

The Apple Card is the first consumer credit card they have ever issued.

The Points Mom And The Apple Card

I reluctantly got it just so I can have the inside scoop.  Apple offered me a very generous credit limit in about 20 seconds and 3 clicks!  I recently wrote about my thoughts about how I feel thus far about the card.
