United Mileage Plus tried to help their Premier Status members back in April and they are doing so again. Here are the details…
Refresher-When you join United MileagePlus, you are a MileagePlus member. Additionally, the MileagePlus Premier Status Program offers Silver, Gold, Platinum and 1K Status. You can reach Premier Status through a combination of PQF (Premier Qualifying Flights) and PQP (Premier Qualifying Points) OR just with PQP but meeting a higher goal.
The requirements in 2021 (for 2022) because of covid are updated as follows:
SILVER you will need 8 PQF and 3,000 PQP or 3,500 PQP
GOLD you will need 16 PQF and 6,000 PQP or 7,000 PQP (Lifetime status when you reach 1 million miles)
PLATINUM you will need 24 PQF and 9,000 PQP or 10,000 PQP (Lifetime status when you reach 2 million miles)
1K you will need 36 PQF and 13,500 PQP or 15,000 PQP (Lifetime status when you reach 1 million miles).
And there are some other positive changes as well…
–MileagePlus will automatically add PQP to your MileagePlus account based on the 2021 Premier status you hold at the end of 2020. You’ll receive the PQP no later than February 1, 2021, to give you a head start on maintaining your current status or reaching a higher status level.
–Earn bonus PQP on your first three trips in January-March 2021: You can earn even more PQP with our most rewarding Premier qualification offer ever. Premier members will earn double PQP and members will earn an additional 50% PQP bonus for each of the first three trips you take with United from January 1 through March 31, 2021.
–United is automatically adding PQP to your MileagePlus account based on the 2021 Premier status you hold at the end of 2020. The amount deposited will be equal to 25% of the PQP-only requirement for your 2021 Premier status level. So for Silver (3,500 PQP requirement), you will get 875 PQPs. Gold (7,000 PQP requirement), you will get 1750 PQPs. Platinum (10,000 PQP requirement), you will get 2,500 PQPs. 1K (15,000 PQP requirement), you will get 3750 PQPs. These additional PQPs will be deposited before February 1, 2021.
-Remember-Reach Premier 1K with PQP earned from your eligible credit card: For the 2021 program year, United is making changes to the way some of the credit cards earn PQP and qualify for Premier status. Now, PQP count toward Premier 1K status when you meet the PQF requirement.
Earn up to 1,000 PQP-The United Explorer Card, United Club Card, United Club Infinite Card, United Explorer Business Card, United Club Business Card, United MileagePlus Awards Card, United MileagePlus Card, and United MileagePlus Business Card-earn 500 PQP for every $12,000 in card spend, up to 1,000 PQP in a calendar year, that can be applied up to Platinum that can be applied up to 1K. BUT U STILL NEED TO MEET THE PQF REQUIREMENT FOR 1K.
Earn up to 3,000 PQP-The United Quest Card, United MileagePlus Select Card and United MileagePlus Platinum Class Visa Card-earn 500 PQP for every $12,000 in card spend, up to 3,000 PQP in a calendar year, that can be applied up to 1K. BUT U STILL NEED TO MEET THE PQF REQUIREMENT FOR 1K.
Earn up to 10,000 PQP-The United Presidential Plus Card and United Presidential Plus Business Card-earn 500 PQP for every $12,000 in card spend, up to 10,000 PQP in a calendar year, that can be applied up to 1K. THESE CARDMEMBERS DO NOT HAVE TO MEET THE PQF REQUIREMENT FOR 1K.
ALSO, DON’T FORGET! United is also doubling PQP for the United Explorer cards and quadrupling PQP for the United Club cards.
