$5,000 Stayed On Our Squaw Valley Stay Using Capital One Purchase Eraser

This past year, Rob took advantage of a 200,000 Capital One Miles bonus offer (not a typo).  Since then, I have moved many of Rob’s business charges to his Capital One Spark Miles card, where he earns 2x miles on all of his purchases.

You see, I booked a hotel for February break in Squaw Valley, the Resort at Squaw Creek, and it looks so nice! However, it is not a chain hotel and therefore cannot be paid for using loyalty points.  Enter Rob’s Capital One Spark Miles card.  By the time that we need to pay for this hotel in next March or April, I hope to have all of the Capital One Miles we need to pay for the $5,000 hotel bill.  Since I redeem Capital One miles at a rate of 1 cent/1 point via the Capital One Purchase Eraser, I would need 500,000 Capital One Miles.  Luckily, I started with the 200,000 mile bonus.  By moving most of Rob’s business expenses to this card, I am confident we will be able to spend another $150,000 (which would become 300,000 miles because we earn at 2x miles per $1) before we need to pay the bill.

Unfortunately, I am going to be foregoing many Chase Ultimate Rewards points because we use our Chase Freedom Unlimited for many of Rob’s business expenses.  But when in the end, I get this Tahoe stay for free, it is going to be worth it!

Guess what?  We got free flights to Tahoe too.  Yay me!
