Currently, the only bank issuing credit cards that allow you to earn American AAdvantage miles is Citibank. American and Citi’s agreement is staying the same. However, American has entered into a new agreement with Barclaycard, to allow them to issue an American Advantage card.
Citi will continue to market it’s cards to new customers through channels such as aa.com, direct mail, and Admirals Club lounges. Barclaycard US will be able to offer its cards to new customers in airports and exclusively during flights beginning in January 2017.
This can only mean good things for us in that, there will be more opportunities to apply for cards that earn American AAdvantage miles. We’ll see…..
