I did it once and I just did it again.  I just ordered magazine subscriptions to prevent my kid’s American AAdvantage miles from expiring.

If you followed #8 on my Lets Get Started page, hopefully, you have opened frequent flyer accounts for your children.  However, many airlines have account mileage expiration dates due to lack of activity in an account.  American Airlines AAdvantage miles expire after 18 months of inactivity.

For you account to remain active, all you need is one qualifying activity every 18 months.  Buying a magazine subscription through American Airlines Mags For Miles counts as qualifying activity.

Guess what kind of magazines I ordered?  Um, yes, travel magazines!  I used 100 miles from Mason’s account and ordered 11 issues of Conde Nast Traveler, 100 miles from Daniel’s account for 12 issues of Sunset.  With Jessie’s account I splurged and ordered 12 issues of Travel and Leisure for 800 miles.

Now their 18 month clocks starts again and the balance of their miles remains.
