I could not pass up a limited time bonus offer for the AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite MasterCard. The OFFER is to earn 60,000 American AAdvantage miles (instead of 50,000) after your first purchase and paying the annual fee of $95. BTW-60,000 AA miles are worth $95.
However, as is always the case, I was a little nervous about not being approved because I HAVE A LOT OF CREDIT CARDS! . In fact, when I completed my credit application online, I did not get automatically approved but instead was told I would get a decision shortly.
But I really wanted these 60,000 American Airline miles. So to get around this, I called Barclays credit department (866-408-4064) to ask them to move some of my credit from my Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard to this new AAdvantage Aviator card. Barclays Bank happily obliged and I moved a mere $1,000 in credit. After all, I only need to spend the $95 fee to get the 60,000 miles! Andy why shouldn’t Barclays do this? They are not extending me any additional credit, and they are banking on me to use it.
