Be Smart-Enroll With STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) Before Your Next Trip Abroad

I am heading to Singapore in December.  Just to be extra safe, I have registered my trip with the STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program).

By registering with STEP, I will receive important information from the Embassy about safety conditions.  Registering will also make it easier for the U.S. Embassy to contact me in an emergency.  It is free and easy to sign-up and then simple to enter your travel plans.

You can access the site and register here.

Three minutes after registering, I received this email….

“Thank you for notifying us of your upcoming travel plans through the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)!

This email is to confirm your recent enrollment. This information is only accessible to authorized U.S. Department of State Embassy and Consular personnel in the event that emergency assistance needs to be provided to U.S. citizens and nationals who are traveling abroad.

If you would like to make any changes, please visit https://step.state.gov and log in to update your data. For more information about traveling or living in a specific country, or to learn more about passports, visas and other consular services, please visit http://www.travel.state.gov.

The U.S. Department of State Smart Traveler Enrollment Program generated this email. Please do NOT reply to this email, as this email address does not accept inbound mail.”
