Airline Programs Where You Can Earn Top Tier Elite Status Strictly Based On Spending

Unknown

As I have already posted about, there are certain cards that offer elite status at hotels. You can obtain low to mid level elite status either automatically as a card holder, or after meeting spending requirements on your various cards.  You can learn about these cards and the requirements here.

However, someone recently asked me whether is was possible to obtain top tier elite status with a specific loyalty program without flying (on the airline) or staying (at the hotel chain), i.e. via credit card spend. For some of us that don’t have the ability to travel many many times a year, spending on a credit card is something that we may be able to do to obtain that lofty status.  Here are some of the cards where you can get elite status with credit card spend.

Mosaic, JetBlue’s highest tier of loyalty that offers additional points, benefits and perks is attainable by cardmembers of the JetBlue Plus MasterCard if they spend $50,000 in Net Purchases (based on transaction date) made between January 1 and December 31 each calendar year. Mosaic is earned in addition to the TrueBlue points earned your purchases and purchases made through additional cards on the primary cardmember’s Account (by authorized users) will count too.  Cardmembers who qualify for Mosaic will be eligible for the remainder of the current calendar year and the following calendar year.
