If you have heard people talking about the Sapphire line of cards over the last few years but haven’t yet jumped on board, now would be a good time. Chase has upped its offer for the Chase Sapphire Preferred. You can earn 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards bonus points (instead of the prior 50,000 points) when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months after account opening. However, the $95 annual fee that used to be waived, is no longer. But, recent valuations of Chase points come in at about 2 cents per point…so that extra 10,000 points yields about $200 in value, far above the $95 fee.
As for earning points, you earn 2 points on dining and travel like airfare, hotels, cruises, rental cars, travel agencies, train tickets, taxis, tolls and more. (Click here for a complete definition of travel from Chase)
