As I have posted about previously, I am using my Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard like crazy to try to earn 120,000 Barclaycard Arrival Miles to apply to my $1,200 deposit for my hotel in Cooperstown, NY. The amount of miles that I need, requires that I spend $60,000 in 120 days, as I earn 2 Barclaycard Arrival miles per $ spent.
With this 120 day deadline looming, I have realized that there is a limitation to this card for large travel purchases. That is, I do not have a big enough credit limit to spend to spend $60,000 in 120 days.
I figured one way to get around this is to pay the bill off multiple times a month so my credit limit would be replenished frequently. But, that requires a lot of work and effort, not to mention, I think Rob would be annoyed by the frequent payments from our account.
So I asked for a credit line increase and I did receive a respectable one. (Note, I received the increase no problem, despite the number of times I cancel cards). I should now be able to meet the 120 day deadline, but barely.
I may even ask for another one soon. Remember I spent about $1,700 on 3 flights to Vegas. I used my Barclaycard for that too. After I redeem my points for my Cooperstown deposit, I think I may start spending on this card some more to try to redeem for that Vegas charge (even just a partial amount of that charge). However, when I finally redeem for Cooperstown, I will be well into the 120 day period for the Vegas flight charge. I will definitely be pressed for time. But with a little bit of a bigger credit line, that may help things. We shall see…
