Recall that back in the winter of 2015, it was announced that the relationship between JetBlue and Amex was coming to an end. They stopped offering the American Express card to new card members and for me, a current cardholder, I decided to await the information as to what would become of my card.
The letter from American Express came yesterday. In the letter American Express states that my JetBlue Amex will be automatically replaced with a JetBlue card from Barclays.
Um, wait a second, why would I want Amex to transfer my account when I am ripe to receive a new JetBlue sign up bonus from a new bank, Barclays. Recall, you can never get another sign-up bonus for any personal American Express card that you already had, no matter how long ago you canceled it. But I can get a new JetBlue point bonus from a new bank…
I canceled my American Express JetBlue card and I happily await the terms of the new offer with the Barclays JetBlue card.
