Free Ubers And Taxis For Me For Awhile

I have about $900 in free travel and some I need to use by the end of the year.  All of our flights and hotels are taken care of for our upcoming trips to Chicago next week and Europe this Christmas, so I see a lot of free Ubers (and taxis, trains, etc ) in our future.  If you are wondering why I have so much free travel coming towards me, this is the story…

Be Practical and Save!

Awhile ago, Rob (I) did some maneuvering and canceled his Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard and moved the credit to a new Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard.  Rob received a 50,000 Arrival Mile bonus offer with the card and he secured that bonus by meeting the minimum spend requirement of $3,000 in the first 3 months.  He actually spent about $4K meeting the bonus.  Due to the double miles earning on all purchases with the card, he currently has about 58,000 Arrival miles sitting in his account.  These 58,000 miles translate to $580 in statement credits that he can get on travel purchases.

I am contributing as well.  After lots of planning, I recently secured the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite Card with it’s 325 annual statement credit for travel purchases.  This credit expires at the end of the year and I get a new one it its place come Jan. 1, 2018.

So Rob has $580 to spend, and I have $325.  Obviously, we will use my Altitude card first because that $325 has an expiration date.

Keep in mind, I also have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card, but have already used that $300 travel credit.  I also get that back again at the beginning of 2018.
