It was impossible for me to pass up an offer for a NO FEE Amex card that earns 2X Membership Rewards points on ALL PURCHASES (up to $50,000), not to mention a 20,000 points bonus. So I applied for the American Express Blue Business Plus Credit Card the day it came out. I hadn’t applied for a card in a while, so I was confident that I would be approved. Note, you can apply for Amex business cards as a sole proprietorship.
Well I was not approved immediately, but instead got the message from Amex that my application was pending. I awaited word from Amex…..
They called me a few days later. They wanted to give me the card, but they informed me that I would need to cancel another one of my Amex cards because I was not allowed to have more than five cards inclusive of BUSINESS AND PERSONAL cards. (I had 5 already-Business Platinum, Starwood Personal, Starwood Business, Delta Platinum, and Amex Everyday Preferred).
I happily canceled my personal Starwood card, after all I had the business card anyway. I made sure that I moved that credit line because remember, YOU NEVER WANT TO CANCEL A CARD WITHOUT MOVING YOUR CREDIT LINE IF YOU CAN!
I am excited that I now have an Amex card that earns 2X Membership Rewards points and may think twice before I take my Chase Freedom Unlimited out of my wallet. Maybe this Amex card will be my new go-to card.
The competition between Chase and Amex is very lucrative for all of us consumers. I hope you guys are taking advantage of this also!
