The Points Mom

Have Fun Playing With The New Marriott/Ritz/SPG Award Chart…I Did!

At The Bazaar At The SLS Hotel In Beverly Hills

As we know, in August, Marriott, Ritz and SPG will be combined into one program and there will be a single points currency.  Also in August, SPG members will see their point balances triple.

Want to know what that new points balance can get you?

Here is the award chart which takes effect in August.

You can play, like I did, and put in some of your favorite resorts and see the redemption requirement.  Note, the chart already takes into account the 1-3 conversion, so a hotel like the Equinox in Vermont will show a current redemption rate of 36,000 (on the SPG site it currently shows 12,000 per night).  As you will see, some redemption rates went up, others down and some stayed the same, like the SLS Beverly Hills pictured above.

Some other things you should know…

-These standard redemption rates for Category 1–7 will be available to book starting August 2018

-Coming in early 2019, the program will add peak, off-peak and Category 8 redemption rates

-Hotels slated to be in Category 8 will be placed temporarily in Category 7, until Category 8 is introduced. So, right now you can book a category 8 hotel at the category 7 redemption rates.  I wish I had one to book right now, unfortunately, I don’t!
