The American Express Blue Cash Preferred is a CASH BACK card that currently earns 6% Cash Back at U.S. supermarkets up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1%) and 3% Cash Back at U.S. gas stations and select U.S. department stores (See the list of which department stores here). Note, this department store earnings benefit is hidden on the card’s site but you can see it in the cardmember agreement, however, it will be ending in July.
And now there are more bonus categories being added. Starting May 9th, you will begin earning 6% back on US streaming services, and 3% back on all transit. In addition, the sign-up bonus will be increased from $200 cash back to $250 after you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first 3 months.
Note, the streaming services include Amazon Prime, YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Kindle Unlimited, Audible, etc.
The card has a $95 annual fee. Cash Back is received in the form of Reward Dollars that can be redeemed as a statement credit.
