AA/US Airways Merger-Update on How Your Frequent Flier Accounts Will Be Combined

imagesI received this email from American Airlines a few days ago.  The email lays out how the AA will combine your AAdvantage accounts with your Dividend Miles accounts based on which program/programs you are already a member of.  The jist of the email is below.

In the second quarter of 2015, we’ll reach the next milestone on our path to integration by bringing the Dividend Miles program into the AAdvantage loyalty program.

Only have an AAdvantage account?-You don’t need to do anything. You’ll keep the same AAdvantage number.

Only have a Dividend Miles account? -We’ll create an AAdvantage account for you and assign you a new number when we combine programs. Your existing Dividend Miles balances will automatically be transferred. There’s nothing else you’ll need to do.

Have an account in both programs? -You’ll hear from us early next year with information on how to quickly and easily match your accounts online. This will give you an opportunity to let us know you’re a member of both programs.

Once we combine programs in the second quarter of 2015, we’ll then move your Dividend Miles award mileage balance, elite-qualifying activity and million mile balance into your AAdvantage account on a one-to-one ratio.”

The above email from American makes it sound like the transition will be a smooth one.  We shall see……
