Amex is rolling out some new benefits for some of it’s card holders starting tomorrow October 6, 2016. As they should! After all, they need to stay competitive with new hot cards being issued by other banks, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve. These new benefits are most helpful to those card holders who use their Amex cards for airfare and businesses with some big ticket purchase items.
First, for those of you with regular Platinum Card, you will receive 5X Membership Rewards points on airfare booked directly with airlines or through American Express Travel.
In addition, Business Platinum Card Members can now earn 50% points back (instead of the prior 30%) when using Membership Rewards Pay with Points through American Express Travel to book a flight with their selected airline. Business Platinum members can also receive this benefit when booking a first or business class ticket with ANY airline.
Lastly, if you are a Business Platinum Card Member, you can earn 1.5X Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on ANY purchase of $5,000 or more.
