We have a funny summer when the kids come home from camp this year. Daniel is starting high school and wants to be around to begin cross country. Mason has to be in Cooperstown at the end of the summer for a baseball tournament. We have only about 5 days to play with to take a family trip.
For that family trip, we are headed to Quebec City and right now the plan is, we are driving. I looked into flying and could not find any flights that were not a ton of miles or $. It is about 8-9 hours, we can do it, we can do it……
On the bright side, I booked the Marriott Delta Quebec. I booked 5 nights here for a total of 160,000 Marriott Rewards points. The hotel is a Category 8 hotel and the room was 40,000 Marriott Rewards points per night. When you book using points, you get the 5th night free. The hotel would have cost about $300 CAD per night ($230 US Dollars). I saved $1,150.
Also, I want to point out, that I currently do not have enough Marriott Rewards points for the above reservation. I only needed to get them into my account before we travel. I will be working over the next 2 months to accumulate these Marriottt Rewards points by using my Chase Marriott Rewards credit card, or using one of my Chase cards that earn Ultimate Rewards. Don’t forget, Marriott is an Ultimate Rewards transfer partner. I love this feature of Marriott Rewards!
Update-this trip never happened. We went to Lake George instead. 🙂
