We used Chase Ultimate Rewards points for our flights to Hawaii. Before I booked, I watched the point requirement change every day for a month. In general, I watched the point requirement go up! I should have booked the flights early on. But, I did get what I believe to be a decent redemption rate of 70,480 points per ticket. Here’s the catch… we are leaving the morning of Friday the 18th despite the fact that my kids need to miss school this day. Oh well, it was about 100,000 less Chase Ultimate Rewards points to leave on this day versus Saturday or Sunday. My kids can miss a day of school!
The flights that I did book, would have cost $881 per ticket on Delta. Not bad for Hawaii at Christmas from what I hear, but still too much for me to not use my Chase Ultimate Rewards points. So I did and in my mind, I saved $4,400!
