From the middle of November 2015, I was working on spending $1,500 on Amazon as I was taking advantage of an offer where I would earn 10 (instead of 5) Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 spent on the Chase Freedom’s card 4th quarter’s bonus categories, one of which was Amazon.
Instead of buying no fee American Express gift cards, which is what I normally get for all of our various pros, tutors, instructors, etc. as gifts, this year, I got everyone an Amazon gift card for the holidays and charged them to none other than my Chase Freedom card. I should note, that even after making these purchases, I still could not reach the $1,500 “bonusable amount” and ended up having to buy myself a $750 Amazon gift card. 🙂
If Amazon spending is a 4th quarter Chase Freedom bonus category in years to come, I think my recipients should expect more Amazon gift cards in their future. Even at the normal rate of 5 points per $1 spent, it is still worth it.
