Rob Is Saying Goodbye To His Barclays Hawaiian Airlines Card But Hello To A Barclays Arrival Card

Apply for the Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard Here

Back last year, Rob got an offer on the plane back from Hawaii and signed up for the Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard..  He got a very nice line of credit with the card.  Once Rob secured the 50,000 HawaiianMiles from the bonus offer, he stopped using the card.

Fast forward a year later, the $89 dollar fee became due.  I did not want to pay the annual fee for a card that Rob never uses anymore, nor did I want to lose the big credit line that Rob had access to with the Hawaiian Airlines card.  Recall that your available credit is the denominator in your utilization ratio and if that number goes down, so does your credit score.  So losing that credit line was not an option for him.

Instead, I had Rob apply for the Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard with its limited time 50,000 Arrival Mile bonus offer and waived fee the first year.  I canceled the Hawaiian Airlines card, but not before moving the credit line over to Rob’s new Arrival card.  In fact, this helped the application get approved.  Barclays did not have to issue Rob any additional credit.  It was a win-win.

Looking forward to figuring out what to do with those 50,000 bonus miles, which equates to $500 for travel.  Will let you know what I decide.
