Oops-I Feel Like I Lost $100

Unknown

Recall, every year, BOA Premium Rewards card members receive up to $100 a year in statement credits when qualifying purchases such as seat upgrades, baggage fees, in-flight services and airline lounge fees are charged to your card account.

Well, recall Rob got this card back in September, which gave us a mere 4 months to use the credit.  Unfortunately for us, I mistakingly assumed that we would be able to knock off this credit that upcoming December on our trip to Amsterdam and Paris so I didn’t act prior to that trip.  However, we had no baggage fees on our British Air flights.  We needed no lounge access as whenever we had time for a lounge, I was able to get us into a Priority Pass lounge because both my American Express Business Platinum and my Chase Sapphire Reserve card give us access to those lounges.  Also, our long flight to and from Europe came with food, so I didn’t buy food on the plane either.

I almost made the mistake even worse.  I contemplated buying extra food and wine on the British Air flight worth $100, but what I didn’t realize then was that the credit can only be for purchases on domestic-originated flights on certain U.S.-domestic airline carriers.  That would have been great had I bought 10 mini bottles of wine on our flight.  Luckily, laziness got the best of me and I didn’t pursue the credit on the flight.

I did however pursue the credit at home and called Bank Of America to see if I could roll the credit over till 2018.  Not surprising, their answer was an emphatic no!  In retrospect, what I should have done, was purchase airline gift certificates up to $100 before 12/31/17.  I will make sure that I will not make the same mistake in 2018 and hopefully, after reading this, nor will you!
