One Hike-8 Waterfalls

IMG_3400

Our second day in Portland, we took a 30 mile drive to the spectacular Multnomah Falls. There we did the 5.7 mile Multnomah Falls  Trail / Wahkeena Falls Trail Loop.  It was a moderate hike with some steady climbs.  It was definitely a workout but also manageable for some of my companions who do not hike often.

We ultimately hit 8 waterfalls on the hike, all unique in some way and all beautiful.  In between the falls, we were treated to rambling streams, towering pine trees and amazing views.

The hike is  a very popular one in the Portland area.  On the way, we made some other noteworthy stops at the Crown Point Vista House and Bridal Veil Falls before getting to the relatively empty Multnomah Falls parking lot at about 930 AM.  When we returned at about 1 PM, there was not a spot to be had.  There was a back up on the road with cars waiting to park.  Go early!

We headed to Hood River for lunch after the hike.  We found ourselves on the Hood River Beach and marveled at the many wind and kite surfers.    We had delicious pizzas and salads at our second restaurant choice, Solstice, across from the beach.  Our first choice was Pfriem Family Brewers, but there was a 90 minute wait, huh?

Speaking of waits, it is 6am and I am off to the original location of Voodoo Donut so I don’t have to wait there!  Hope it’s worth it! 🙂
