The Points Mom

If You Are Shopping Through A Shopping Portal, Make Sure When You Seal The Deal, You Are Logged Into The Portal

I did a big drugstore.com shop for my kids for camp back in June using my Chase Sapphire Preferred card.  When I do shop online, if I am not using Amazon which is the norm for me, I try to remember to shop through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Shopping portal.  Don’t forget, you earn extra Chase Ultimate Rewards points for every dollar you spend shopping on the portal.

Anyway, I was excited when I saw that shopping through drugstore.com earned 4 points per dollar spent.  I filled up my cart but got summoned away before I actually hit the purchase button.  I later went back into my cart to actually buy the items that drugstore.com saved in my cart.  However, I did not log back on through Chase.  (My prior Chase log in session had expired).  I assumed since I actually filled the cart through the Chase shopping portal that the purchase would still be linked to Chase.

I was mistaken.  On my credit card statement, I earned a mere 1 Chase Ultimate Rewards point per $ spent on my drugstore.com purchase.  I called Chase and explained to them what happened.  Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do.  They did not issue me courtesy points either.  :-(.

So make sure if you shop through the Chase portal or another shopping portal, you are logged in when you actually hit the purchase button.
