World Of Hyatt offers four levels of World of Hyatt membership, Member, Discoverist, Explorist, and Globalist. You are automatically a Member when you join the program. If you reach a higher status level you are entitled to additional privileges and benefits.
There are various ways to reach Elite Status levels, one based on qualifying nights and another based on base points. You can also achieve Discoverist Status if you have a Chase World Of Hyatt Visa, Chase World Of Hyatt Business Card or the now obsolete Chase Hyatt Visa. Let’s look at the different options…..
1. Qualifying Nights-The first way is based on your qualifying nights stayed at a Hyatt resort or an M life Resort. A qualifying night is any night stayed at a participating hotel that you pay an eligible rate and associate your World Of Hyatt membership number with your reservation. An eligible rate now includes nights in which you use points for your stay. If a guest pays for more than one (1) room during a particular stay, only one (1) such room will be eligible to earn Qualifying Nights.
2. Base Points-The second way to earn elite status is by acquiring base points. Remember, you earn 5 base points per $1 when you stay at a Hyatt or M life resort.
So what are the requirements in terms of qualifying nights or base points for each level?
Discoverist status-you must stay 10 qualifying nights or earn 25,000 base points
Explorist status-you must stay 30 qualifying nights or earn 50,000 base points
Globalist status-you must stay 60 qualifying nights or earn 100,000 base points.
3. Spend a lot on your Chase World Of Hyatt Card. As noted above, you automatically get Discoverist status with the card. And as a cardmember, you receive 5 qualifying night credits towards your next tier status every year.Same page link to Offer Details PLUS, 2 additional qualifying night credits toward your next tier status every time you spend $5,000 on your card. This is the first time I have seen the ability to achieve status strictly based on spend. So for Explorist status you would need to earn 25 qualifying nights (because you get 5 already). That would be $62,500 in spend on the card. (25/2*5,000). For Globalist status you would need 55 nights. That would be $137,500 in spend. (55/2*5,000). Lofty goals, but at least it is a possibility. AND/OR
Spend a lot on your Chase World Of Hyatt Business Card. As noted above, you automatically get Discoverist status with the card. And as a cardmember, you’ll earn 5 tier qualifying night credits for every $10K you spend in a calendar year. So for Explorist status you would need to earn 30 qualifying nights. That would be $60,000 in spend on the card. (30/5*10,000). For Globalist status you would need 60 nights. That would be $120,000 in spend. (60/5*10,000). Lofty goals, but at least it is a possibility.
No matter which way you get to elite status, you need to acquire the nights or base points between January 1 and December 31 of any given year and you keep elite status through February of the second Calendar Year following qualification. For example, if a Member were to receive Discoverist status in September 2017, that Member would maintain Discoverist status for the remainder of 2017, all of 2018, and through February 2019, unless the Member re-qualified for his/her current status or earned another tier of elite status during that time.
4. Chase Hyatt Visa-You will receive Discoverist status as long as your Hyatt card is open.
There is also Lifetime Globalist elite status and once you earn this status, you never have to requalify. You can achieve this lifetime status by earning 1,000,000 Base Points over the course of your program membership.
