Free Flights To Vancouver And A Savings of $3,000!

I have to admit, I was a little late to the game (so unlike me) and when I went to book flights, many of the award flights to Vancouver were in the range of 40,000 to 60,000 miles per ticket on various airlines…no thanks!  However, by leaving a day earlier than I would have liked, and by flying home on a 6:40am flight (ugh), I was able to secure us award seat tickets on Air Canada, for a mere 25,000 Aeroplan miles per ticket.  I cannot remember the last time that I redeemed miles at the 25,000 point level.  To me, this is worth the date change and the very early flight on the way home.

Are you wondering how I got 125,000 Aeroplan miles to book these flights?  I certainly have not been accumulating Aeroplan miles via flying or credit card……..well…

Don’t forget, we usually have lots of American Express Membership Rewards points because Rob’s firm does a lot of advertising.  To pay for this advertising, he uses his American Express Business Gold Rewards card and earns 3x American Express Membership Rewards points on these advertising charges.

Next step, Air Canada is an American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner which means I can transfer Rob’s Membership Rewards points to his Air Canada Aeroplan account.  (I joined Aeroplan for him just for this purpose).   That is what I did.  I transferred 125,000 American Express Membership Rewards points to Rob’s new Air Canada Aeroplan account and booked us these tickets.  The least expensive flights that I found during my search were about $600 per ticket.  In my mind, we saved $3,000 on these flights!
