Below, I outline the main ways in which to earn and accumulate Flying Club Miles.

1. Fly Virgin Atlantic

You accumulate Flying Club miles from taking Virgin Atlantic flights and depending on your membership level you can earn even more when you fly. Flying Club Silver earn a 50% bonus of base flown miles, while Gold members earn a 100% bonus.

2. Use your Bank Of America Virgin Atlantic World Elite MasterCard

When you use your Bank Of America Virgin Atlantic World Elite MasterCard  you earn 3 miles per $1 spent directly on Virgin Atlantic purchases and 1.5 miles per $1 spent on all other purchases.

If you do not already have the Bank Of America Virgin Atlantic World Elite MasterCard , you can apply here. Currently, new card members receive 20,000 Flying Club BONUS MILES miles after their first purchase and can earn up to an additional 15,000 Flying Club bonus miles in the first year.  There is a $90 annual fee.

3. Transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards

If you are a member of American Express Membership Rewards you can transfer your Membership Rewards points, in 1,000-point increments, to your Virgin Atlantic Flyer Club account. At the time of this post, 1000 American Express Membership Rewards points equals 1000 Flying Club miles.

 

4.  Transfer points from Chase Ultimate Rewards

If you are a member of Chase Ultimate Rewards you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account. Your points transfer at 1:1 value. That means one Ultimate Rewards point equals one Virgin Atlantic Flying Club mile.

 

 

 

5.  Transfer Starpoints to your Flying Club account

Starwood Preferred Guests can transfer up to 79,999 of their Starpoints per transaction per program within a 24-hour period to their Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account at a 1:1 ratio. In addition, for every 20,000 Starpoints transferred within the same transaction, Starwood will automatically add another 5,000 Starpoints! This means that up to 94,999 Starpoints can be transferred into your frequent flyer account. (15,000 points transferred for the first 60,000 of the 79,999). Note, unlike some of the other programs in which you can transfer points to airlines, points transfers through SPG are not instantaneous.

If you are a member of Citi Thank You Rewards you can transfer your Thank You Rewards points to your Flying Club account. At the time of this post, 1000 Citi Thank You Rewards points equal 1000 Flying Club points.

Note—Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is one of the only airline loyalty programs that accepts transfers from all four programs, American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest and CitiThankYou Rewards!!!

7.  Transfer Hilton Honors To Your Flying Club Account

Exchange points at a rate: 10,000 Honors points into 1,500 Flying Club miles. (not a great ratio!)
Miles cannot be transferred back to Flying club once transferred to your Hilton Honours account.

8.  Purchase Miles Through Miles Booster

Miles Booster is a benefit available to all Flying Club members that gives you the choice of buying the base flown miles, or buying double the base flown miles for a trip you’re taking on Virgin Atlantic at a discounted purchase rate.

9.  Shop through the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Shops Away online site

Shopping portals are a great place to rack up extra miles, you earn miles while you shop.
