Earning and Accumulating Amtrak Guest Rewards

Below, I outline the main ways in which to earn and accumulate Amtrak Guest Rewards points.

1. Travel on Amtrak

Earn 2 points per $1 spent on your Amtrak travel.  There is a 100-point minimum on each trip, no matter the price.  Also earn 500 points with each Acela Business class trip or 750 points for each qualifying First class trip you take between select city pairs.

Starting January 24, 2016, still earn 2 points per dollar spent on Amtrak travel, plus a 25% point bonus for qualifying travel in Business class and 50% for qualifying travel in Acela First class.  The 100-point minimum per trip will be eliminated.

2. Use your Chase Amtrak Guest Rewards MasterCard

When you use your Chase Amtrak Guest Rewards MasterCard you earn two points per $1  on Amtrak travel and one point per $1 on everyday purchases.  Note, this card is not available to apply for any longer.  You can only earn points using your card, if you are already an existing card member.

3.  Transfer Starpoints to your Amtrak Guest Rewards account

Starwood Preferred Guest members can transfer Starpoints to Amtrak Guest Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.  Transfers must be made in 5,000 Starpoints increments. At the time of this post, Starpoint transfers can only be made by calling Starwood Preferred Guest.

4.  Transfer other hotel loyalty points to your Amtrak Guest Rewards account
