We Made A Last Minute Hotel Switch In Chicago To The Westin On Michigan Avenue

In the final days before our trip to Chicago I got nervous about the Hilton Embassy Suites hotel that I had booked in terms of its location.  I remembered back to our trip to Philly, where we stayed at an Embassy Suites, and were far away from many of the restaurants and attractions.

So I switched our stay to the Westin on Michigan Avenue and the location was phenomenal.  It was a 5 minute walk to the lake, right across the street from the John Hancock Tower and in the heart of tons of shopping and restaurants.  We were very happy with the hotel and its location.

We still stayed for free.  The Westin is a SPG Category 5 hotel and the room was 12,000 Starpoints per night for a large room with 2 queen beds.  It sufficed for us for the 3 days and we barely spent anytime in the room anyway, just to sleep.

I don’t know the location of the Embassy Suites but am happy we switched and glad that we had the points (like most of the time) to do so!
