Remember I told all of you that I really wanted the new U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite Card and I had a plan to secure it?  Well, my plan worked!

Since I couldn’t become an Altitude card holder without being a U.S. Bank customer for 35 days prior to applying, I became a U.S. Bank customer.  I applied for and was immediately approved for the no fee Club Carlson Rewards Visa Card From U.S. Bank.  I earned 30,000 Club Carlson Gold points to boot, which was also a new loyalty program for me.

Once I had that account open for the requisite 35 days, I made my move and applied for the Altitude Reserve card.  I did not get approved right away, so I called to try to reallocate some of my credit from my Club Carlson card to the new Altitude card.  This is a strategy that I always use with Chase. Um, U.S. Bank does not reallocate credit they told me.  Hmm, so I had to wait and see.

A mere 2 days later, I found a package at my front door.  I opened it and was pleasantly surprised to see this!

Look at the fancy box that it came in and it’s metal!

I am a relatively new U.S. Bank customer, so I got a small credit limit but I don’t care.  It is enough to secure the 50,000 bonus point offer if I spend $4,500 in the first 90 days. (I will make sure I do).

The 50,000 bonus point offer is worth $750 in travel and it there is an annual $325 statement credit for travel purchases.  That is almost $1100 in free travel for me in the first year.  The annual fee is $400, but covered the first year and is really only $75 in subsequent years because of the annual travel credit.

See my prior post offering more details about the perks and benefits of this card.

I am very excited about my new addition.  Yay!
