Because Columbus day weekend immediately precedes the Jewish holiday, Yom Kippur, this year, we have 5 straight days off in October.  Hmm, where should we go for these 5 days?  Philadelphia, that is where!

Like many current households, my kids are obsessed with Hamilton, the story, the music, and the history.  I want to try to keep this momentum going.  I took my daughter to see 1776 a few months back.  Next, I look forward to my family exploring the city where our Declaration Of Independence was signed (even though Hamilton, who is considered a founding father, did not sign it).

Knowing me, we are going to have a very packed schedule with little down time at the hotel.  There is a lot to see and I would also like to throw in a bike tour, hike and most importantly, a visit with my niece and nephew who go to college in Philly.  🙂

Therefore, I do not feel it is necessary for us to stay in a fancy hotel.  Recall, we are very flush with Hilton HHonors points right now because of two recent offers that Rob took advantage of.   Therefore, I have booked us 5 nights at the Embassy Suites (right down the street from the Ritz) for 40,000 Hilton HHonors points per night.  The fifth night is free when you book on Hilton HHonors points, so the suite for 5 nights was 160,000 Hilton HHonors points.

The member price of the suite was about $230 per night.  So five nights would have cost $1,150.  Best part, not only are we saving $1,150, but the hotel has complimentary cooked to order breakfast each morning.  We will save $$ on breakfast too!!!

Looking forward to our trip!
